Our Heritage
Waybest Tower Company was created in the late 1950s by David Siggelkow Sr. in
Weyburn, Saskatchewan where he resided with his wife,
Eunice. Initially David began working at heights on wind charger towers, and
when Radio, Television and wireless communication became popular, his business
became one of the first that helped to pioneer the communication Tower industry.
With Waybest, Dave also performed other jobs such as painting
towers, water towers and barns, erecting steel
buildings and grain bins, and re-shingling church steeples.
David Siggelkow Sr. moved his family and business to Burdett, Alberta over a
decade later. In Alberta, Waybest Tower expanded its already diverse scope of
jobs and became involved in farm related work: custom baling, bale stacking
and field spraying, and the erection and service of irrigation systems such as
the center pivot. Dave Siggelkow had a small aircraft and loved to fly to the jobs
sites, usually landing in a field near by. Dave Siggelkow Sr. involved his wife
and all seven of his family in some aspect of the business.
Due to failing
health, David Jr. and his wife Michele took over Waybest Tower company in the
early 1990s. They incorporated the company in 2000. Waybest Tower Inc.
currently operates from Medicine Hat, Alberta and specializes in towers.
